Experiencing long-term academic stress can have an overwhelming impact on the health of Mexican university students. Facing this challenge, an innovative study was conducted that explored the use of «refresh activation» as a tool to mitigate academic burnout. This approach, an active meditation that incorporates movement, mindful breathing, focus on attention and music, was implemented during an 8-week intervention program.

The heart of the research lies in understanding how «activation refresh» can counteract the impact of academic burnout. Using the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Student Survey (MBI-SS) as an assessment tool, pre- and post-tests were administered to measure the effectiveness of the program. In addition, perceptions of stress in various areas of life and daily satisfaction were explored through additional questionnaires.

The experimental group, composed of 36 university students, underwent the intervention program, and preliminary results suggest a positive impact on the reduction of academic burnout. The combination of specific «activation refresh» techniques has proven to be a catalyst for renewing energy and improving the mental health of the participants.

Even more telling, four students volunteered to share their qualitative experiences, highlighting how the practice of activation refresh resulted in a significant reduction in burnout. These personal narratives reinforce the effectiveness of the program and underscore the importance of addressing academic burnout from a holistic perspective.

This pioneering study not only sheds light on the efficacy of «activation refresh» as a coping strategy, but also highlights the urgent need to implement similar programs in academic settings. By renewing students’ energy, we can foster a healthier and more productive educational environment for all.
